ملخص

The existing engineering programs in the Gulf region, to some extent, over emphasize or underemphasize the two important aspects namely compartmentalization and contextual issues. Both topics are important, intertwined and need to be adequately and properly addressed by the engineering educators to produce globally competent engineers. There is a growing need for engineers who recognize the complexities of global and societal issues and respond to those complex issues with the solutions they develop. This paper presents authors' thought to explain the compartmentalization and contextual issues in regional engineering curriculum and its delivery and how it can be improved to attain global competitiveness.
