Prof. Laude reflects on the ambiguity of the notion of transmission and heritage from a religious perspective. On the one hand, religion commands man to honor his parents. Love toward this Divine Reality necessarily transcends any form of attachment toward one’s culture or family. This is why precisely religious traditions have generally elevated the status of the spiritual teacher above the one of the biological father.
