Abstract
Methylammonium lead halide perovskite based solar cells have recently emerged as a potential alternative to silicon based device. They consist of a multilayered device including oxides, organometallic and organic materials. Many Simulation tools have been developed to compute the expected performance of such devices as key characteristics of the layers are changed. In this work, we have SCAPS and AMPS software to compute the performance of CH3NH3PbI3 based solar cells with various hole transport materials (HTM) layers including spiro-OMeTAD, and other inorganic materials. The results show that the solar cell containing Cu2O as HTM outperforms all other devices including any of the HTM hitherto tested. This work indicates that there is a possibility to further reduce the cost of perovskite cells and enhance their resistance to moisture by replacing the expensive spiro-MeOTAD by a cheap protecting oxide layer.
