Background: Ocular trauma is a significant problem in pediatric patients. Also, leads to visual loss throughout the world there are no data of pediatric ocular trauma in Arabian Gulf Countries in the current literature.

Aim: To study the epidemiology, mechanism, causes and outcome of serious ocular trauma requiring hospital admission, in children below 16 years of age.

Study design: A retrospective cohort study. Subjects: All pediatric patients (up to 16 years of age) presenting with ocular injuries to a tertiary care pediatric ophthalmology and Pediatric Accident Emergency Department January 1, 2005 to December 30,2009.
